We seldom remember the large crowds that occur when we take over the streets of our city for a few days, or a few hours, to celebrate and celebrate through indiscriminate and insensitive consumption that generates large amounts of waste in a short time, which cannot be treated or recycled properly.

Its purpose is none other than to make visible the dilemma that exists with single-use containers at the Chicharras festival, appealing, in turn, to the individual responsibility of the attendees.

"We have to learn to enjoy the Carnival without using so much plastic", says the Tenerife artist Irene Sanfiel, known artistically as ziREjA, on photographing the bitter side of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival, who assures that she will continue to portray rubbish "until it stops being a problem".

This residual landscape shows what would happen if waste management did not exist.

It is an invitation to reflection and the dissemination of the global planetary situation that is generated when we make consumption decisions that are destructive to people and their environment.

Pocas veces nos acordamos de las grandes aglomeraciones que se producen cuando nos apropiamos durante unos días, o unas horas, de las calles de nuestra ciudad para celebrar y festejar a través del consumo indiscriminado e insensible que genera grandes cantidades de residuos en poco tiempo, los cuales no podrán ser tratados ni reciclados convenientemente.

A continuación, compartimos el estudio fotográfico “de carácter antropológico” tomado por la artista tinerfeña, apasionada de las artes en movimiento y la fotografía, durante la madrugada del pasado martes, 21 de febrero de 2023:

Su propósito no es otro que visibilizar el dilema que existe con los envases de un solo uso en la fiesta chicharrera, apelando, a su vez, a la responsabilidad individual de los asistentes.

“Tenemos que aprender a disfrutar del Carnaval sin utilizar tanto plástico”, declara la artista tinerfeña Irene Sanfiel, conocida artísticamente con ziREjA, al fotografiar la cara más amarga del Carnaval de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, quien asegura que seguirá retratando la basura “hasta que deje de ser un problema”.

Este paisaje residual muestra lo que sucedería si no existiese la gestión de residuos.

Es una invitación a la reflexión y la divulgación de la situación planetaria global que se genera cuando tomamos decisiones de consumo destructivos para las personas y su entorno.
