Halloween - Este año 2021 cae en la noche del domingo (31 de octubre) al lunes (1 de noviembre) Día de Todos los Santos.
All Saints' Day is a Christian celebration
that takes place on November 1st in the Catholic Church and on the
first Sunday of Pentecost (50 days after Easter) in the Orthodox Church.

El origen de halloween es celta ya que sus raíces provienen del festival Samhain (fin del verano) en el cual, cuando terminaba la temporada de las cosechas en Irlanda (solsticio de otoño) significaba que empezaba el nuevo año celta y se hacía una fiesta.
¿Por qué se llama Halloween?
En el siglo XVIII se comenzó a utilizar la expresión Hallow-e’en que se refería al Día de Todos los Santos (1 de noviembre) que provenía de All Hallows’s Even. (Hallows = Reliquias)
La noche más misteriosa y terrorífica del año, llena de muertos y brujas está a punto llegar, halloween es una de las noches más esperadas para niños y mayores.
El principal motivo por el que celebraban este día es que pensaban que los espíritus estaban entre los vivos por lo que era una manera de comunicarse con los difuntos y sentirles más cerca en esas fiestas.
Los pequeños de las casas son los que más celebran este día ya que se disfrazan, tienen sus fiestas y van casa por casa con la famosa frase ¿truco o trato? para que les del chuches si dicen trato y les hagan alguna travesura si dicen truco.
Además se suelen decorar las casas con calabazas huecas iluminadas para dar un ambiente terrorífico, todos los bares y locales también juegan con la decoración de halloween.
Antiguamente el día 2 de noviembre se dedicaba a la Conmemoración de los Fieles Difuntos, era un festivo más y estaba destinado a la oración de las almas, pero ahora es el 1 cuando visitamos los cementerios y se conoce como el Día de Todos los Santos.

In spite of the alcohol he drank, Jack was able to deceive the devil by offering him his soul in exchange for a last drink.
El diablo se transformó en una moneda para pagarle al camarero, pero Jack -harto tacaño- rápidamente lo tomó y lo puso en su monedero que tenía grabada una cruz, así que el diablo no pudo volver a su forma original y Jack no lo dejaría escapar hasta que le prometiera no pedirle su alma en diez años.
The devil transformed himself into a coin to pay the waiter, but Jack -scarce as hell- quickly took it and put it in his wallet which had a cross engraved on it, so the devil couldn't return to his original form and Jack wouldn't let it go until he promised not to ask for his soul for ten years.
El diablo no tuvo más remedio que concederle su reclamación.
The devil had no choice but to grant him his claim.
Pasado el plazo de los diez años, Jack
se reunió con el diablo en el campo. El diablo iba preparado para
llevarse su alma pero Jack pensó muy rápido y dijo:
Iré de buena gana, pero antes de hacerlo, ¿me traerías la manzana que está en ese árbol por favor?
After the ten years, Jack met the devil in the field. The devil was ready to take his soul but Jack thought very fast and said:
I'll go willingly, but before I do, will you please bring me the apple on that tree?
El diablo pensó que no tenía nada que perder, y de un salto llegó a la copa del árbol, pero antes que se diese cuenta, Jack rápidamente había tallado una cruz en el tronco.
The devil thought that he had nothing to lose, and in one jump he reached the top of the tree, but before he knew it, Jack had quickly carved a cross into the trunk.

obligó a prometer que jamás le pediría su alma nuevamente.
Then the devil couldn't come down and he forced him to promise that he would never ask for his soul again.

his life he had been a gulf, a drunkard and a swindler. But when he
tried to enter hell, the devil had to send him back, because he couldn't
take his soul (he had promised).
¿A dónde iré ahora? Preguntó Jack, y el diablo le contestó: Vuelve por donde viniste.
Where will I go now? Jack asked, and the devil answered: Go back the way you came.
El camino de regreso era oscuro y el terrible viento no le dejaba ver nada.
