Si bien la isla italiana lleva décadas sufriendo las consecuencias de la aguda e incesante crisis migratoria, y por ende, humanitaria y social, Canarias va encaminada a transformarse, si no lo es ya, en un reflejo de este territorio europeo ubicado a 260 kilómetros de la costa tunecina.

Este domingo, Salvamento Marítimo ha rescatado y desembarcado en Gran Canaria y en Lanzarote a 124 ocupantes de cinco nuevas barquillas, mientras que en Tenerife se ha auxiliado a otros 112 de un nuevo cayuco.

En las últimas dos semanas, Canarias ha recibido a más de 2.000 inmigrantes irregulares mientras que desde que comenzó el año la cifra supera los 8.100. Es decir, que las cifras se han multiplicado por ocho respecto a 2019.

El Gobierno central sigue con su estrategia de mirar para otro lado y concentrar a los inmigrantes en Canarias, no dando facilidades para su reubicación en otros puntos de la geografía española. Las instalaciones de acogida están desbordadas y son cada vez más comunes las imágenes de cientos de personas durmiendo sobre el cemento de un muelle.

trata de migrantes, principalmente senegaleses y marroquíes, que en su
país eran "guías, taxistas o vendedores de la calle" y que con la
pérdida del turismo por el Covid19 se han arruinado.
La presencia
de estas personas podría ser uno de los motivos del gran aumento de
llegada de pateras a Canarias en septiembre y octubre.
En estos
dos últimos meses suelen aumentar las cifras cada año, porque el mar
está en un momento óptimo para el viaje. Sin embargo, en 2020 estos
números se han disparado y, de los 800 llegados en agosto, se ha pasado a
los 2.200 de septiembre y los 3.500 de octubre, a falta de 11 días para
que termine el mes.
